Curcumin 2000 Review
Having done quite a bit of research on the health benefits of Turmeric, I wanted to review a few popular supplements. Read my post on the health benefits of Turmeric. Getting enough curcumin in your diet is a bit tricky on a day to day basis, unless you eat a lot of curries or drink turmeric tea each day, so supplements may be of benefit.
I’ve used Forever Active HA, which has been great for joint health and inflammation, particularly after workouts, but Curcumin 2000 seems to get some really great reviews, so I thought it was worth a mention.
It’s endorsed by a guy called David Lyons, who is in his late 50’s and has MS. (Watch his video here to see what he says).
Not only is it supposed to support joint health and inflammation, but it’s also great for his immune system. Presumably why he claims it’s so great for his MS.
Curcumin 2000 claims to be able to “introduce the bioavailabilty equivalent of 42,000mg of any other curcumin supplement on the market“. I’m not totally sure how it does this as I’m not chemist, but from the literature it seems to be the spices included in the ingredients in particular Piperine, which is a potent black pepper seed extract and the manufacturers claim it triggers a metabolic response, which allows your body to quickly absorb all the nutrients in Curcumin 2000.
Curcumin 2000 is made with natural ingredients. It is Gluten free, but as it contains gelatin (presumably not vegan) it is NOT vegetarian or vegan. To be fair to the product, most joint supplements contain non vegetarian products in the form of Glucosamine etc. Taking supplements is possibly a better way to take Turmeric root, due to the staining nature of drinking or eating it on your teeth, but that’s personal preference. As you may have already read in my post on Turmeric, turmeric itself has fantastic health benefits including the skin and anti cancer properties.
Us ladies of a certain age need to look after our joints, especially if we are overweight or we exercise a lot
All in all it seems to get really good reviews the price is around $41 (£31) per bottle (a months supply) which is fairly favourable with Active HA at around $35 (£25). Not a huge difference in price and more convenient than getting yellow teeth. If you’re vegetarian I would just add turmeric and pepper to your meals and brush your teeth afterwards to avoid the yellow staining or eating the natural root. But if you prefer your pearly whites and don’t mind a bit of added gelatin, try it yourself and let me know how fast it helps you as turmeric has some fab health benefits.
